Ku-ring-gai Council has voted unanimously to ask the state government to create a new pathway for heritage-listed houses to be incorporated into adjacent developments, and to consider denying consent to developments that would otherwise see those homes demolished.
The motion, moved by Councillor Taylor, also asks the Ministers for Planning and Heritage to refrain from issuing development consents that conflict with that pathway. Councillor Taylor revised the original motion to include the Heritage Minister alongside the Planning Minister before reading it to the meeting.
Another councillor spoke in support of the amended motion, and Mayor Wheatley put it to a vote. It passed with every councillor in favour.
