Ku-ring-gai Council has increased the minimum notification radius for traffic management changes from 50 metres to 150 metres. The change was made to its draft community engagement strategy, which will now go on public exhibition for 42 days.
The council also endorsed a review of community building use that could expand arts facilities. A motion to revoke appointments to the Sydney North Planning Panel was carried.
The traffic notification change came from Councillor Alec Taylor, who moved a slightly altered recommendation. The change reads: after increasing the minimum notification mail-out radius for traffic management changes from 50 metres to 150 metres, and then it'd be placed on public exhibition for 42 days.
"This change will give slightly more residents awareness of proposed traffic changes."
The recommendation was seconded by Councillor Barbara Ward and carried unanimously.
A separate motion on community assets, moved by Councillor Indu Balachandran, asked for a report on building upgrade prioritisation. She said a June 2024 report had 23 findings and 15 recommendations. The motion was carried, with part one to return to council in November.
A motion to revoke existing appointments to the Sydney North Planning Panel was moved by Councillor Devlin and seconded by Councillor Alec Taylor.
"I move the recommendation to the Notice of Motion concerning the Sydney North Planning Panel."
The meeting closed at 8.27pm. Minutes will be published within the next two working days and the webcast will be available on the council website.
