Ku-ring-gai Council has voted to install cost-effective lighting at the Vernon Street dog off-leash area in South Turramurra. The decision also requires a report outlining a project timeline for completion to the March ordinary meeting, along with a schedule for the next financial year.
The motion, moved by a councillor and seconded by Councillor Pettett, states: "That Council install cost-effective lighting in the Vernon Street, South Taramurra Dog Offleash area, with a report outlining a project timeline for completion to the ordinary meeting of Council in March this year." A second point asks that the report outline how proposed minor works are collated, considered and prioritised, including a schedule for the FY26 period "that ensures the allocation of council's resources is transparent and equitable across all council areas".
Councillor Wheatley asked staff whether March 2025 was a reasonable time to provide the project timeline. The Director of Operations replied through the Mayor: "Yeah, that is appropriate."
The meeting closed at 7.51pm. Minutes will be published within the next two working days, and the webcast will be available on the council website.
Earlier, councillors adopted general business items 1 through 10 and 12 without debate, with Councillor Ward seconding. Item 11, on the draft IPART submission, was withdrawn for a question from Councillor Balachandran.
"I understand community facilities are not included in IPART's essential work lists for Section 7-11 contributions because there's an expectation that rates should fund community facilities."
Councillor Balachandran asked how the exclusion of community facilities could be addressed in the council's IPART submission, noting it is an issue for Ku-ring-gai.
General manager performance review panel members and a range of committee minutes were also on the agenda. No site inspections were requested.
On the Norman Griffiths Oval question with notice, the General Manager said a written response would be on the agenda for the March ordinary meeting.
