Ku-ring-gai Council has carried the preferred scenario, masterplan and implementation strategy for the state's Transport Oriented Development program. The decision at Monday night's extraordinary meeting follows a period of public exhibition and community consultation held in November and December.
The engagement process included a representative survey for residents from Gordon to Roseville wards, two recruited workshops, an online web portal with maps, an opt-in survey, two public meetings, two drop-in sessions and written submissions. A letter was also sent to all residents. Staff said the work had been done on a tight timeline with a lot of back and forth with the department.
"I want you to know that we do appreciate you and it's been a difficult task."
The mayor moved the item, seconded by Councillor Sam Ngai. The mayor put the GB1 item to the vote after thanking staff, councillors and the community for their patience during a long night. The vote was unanimous and the item was carried.
The meeting closed at 9.42pm. The webcast will be available on the council website and minutes will be published within the next two working days.
