Ku-ring-gai Council has moved to develop a new planning framework for Turramurra town centre and all of the area's town centres, with staff to report back in early 2026 on scope, cost and timeline.
The alternate motion was moved by Councillor Matt Devlin. It asks council staff to report back in the first quarter of 2026 with the project scope, cost and timeline for a planning framework to guide development across Turramurra town centre and all town centres, noting the requirements in the draft Sydney plan released by the New South Wales Government on 10 December 2025.
The motion also asks the report to advise how the work would be integrated with the state government's low and mid-rise housing development authority pathway and any relevant state significant development or planning proposal processes affecting the centres, and to include a proposed stakeholder and community engagement approach.
After the mover read the motion, the mayor asked whether it could be moved as parts A and B, and that was agreed. The excerpt does not show a recorded vote on the item.
A director said an engagement plan would be prepared, including a heritage forum with heritage owners and forums for diverse communities, with a more detailed consultation engagement plan to come back in February 2026 with the report.
Council also handled a confidential session. In closed session, council resolved unanimously to vote in favour of the officer's recommendation for C1, the project review, that the report be received.
Also on the agenda, council received a report on a bushland services tender and a report on a cricket net upgrade at Turramurra Memorial Park. Both included attachments listing tenders received and evaluation reports. The excerpts do not show a recorded decision on either tender.
The meeting closed at 8.55pm. The mayor said the webcast would be available on the council website and minutes would be published within the next two working days.
